ADM is thrilled to announce that thanks to a generous donor, an additional $10,000 in funding will be available for Christian women with book projects at the 2021 Annual Funding Event.

Each year, Anglican Deaconess Ministries (ADM) welcomes pitches from Christian women around Australia for grants for gospel-shaped initiatives and ministries at all stages. This year’s online event looked very different from previous years, but the focus was still on supporting Christian women who have “identified a need that they’re seeking to address through what they’ve created.”

Bernie Black’s Brave Foundation Supports Teen Parents to Become Healthy Families
Bernadette Black was only 16 when she unexpectedly became pregnant. Her situation grew more difficult when she experienced first-hand the stigma and lack of support associated with a teenage pregnancy. As a result, Bernie established the Brave Foundation in 2009, a not-for-profit organisation that equips expecting and parenting teens with resources, referrals and educational opportunities for achieving a happy and healthy family.

Before Sono Leone, an indigenous woman in Queensland, turned 22 years old, she had experienced domestic violence not unlike what many other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Australia have endured. In fact, indigenous women are 32 times more likely to be hospitalised due to family violence than non-Indigenous women, according to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. For Sono, though, experiencing abuse first-hand led her out of the darkness and into a relationship with Jesus.
