The Greenhouse has grown so much so quickly, that it has become clear that for this seedling community to keep growing, connecting and encouraging Christian women, we needed to employ a second team member, someone to focus on building community and helping members engage with each other. Today, ADM is thrilled to announce the appointment of Louisa Raggatt as The Greenhouse’s Community and Engagement Manager. 

WIMSS grantee Arda Cholakyan is the Children and Families Minister at Lakemba Anglican Church, and she’s using the funding to support ministry to children and their parents.

As of 2023, Reverend Jacinth Myles has faithfully served in Anglican parish ministry for 50 years. Joyfully many women have served in a variety of types of ministry around Sydney and NSW, including chaplaincy, theological education and mission, but perhaps none have had the depth of experience that Jacinth has had in parish ministry.

After the isolation of the COVID pandemic, and now running her own business, Jessica Carroll Smith has found The Greenhouse to be a nurturing community for like-minded Christian women seeking to utilise their gifts for God in their respective contexts.

The Board of Anglican Deaconess Ministries is delighted to announce the appointment of Mary Un as the next CEO of ADM. With extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector, a passion for the marginalised, and a deep faith in Jesus, Mary is well placed to lead ADM into its next season.

Birth has always been a big part of Jodie McIver’s life. When she was a child, she was with her parents in the birthing suite as her mother gave birth to her brother Tim, and once again a few years later for the birth of her sister Tarn. While many children may be horrified and scared by the process of birth, for young Jodie, watching her siblings being born was a positive and encouraging experience that sparked a lifelong interest in pregnancy, birth and babies - and ultimately inspired her new book, written with the support of an ADM Fellowship.

Anglican Deaconess Ministries (ADM) is pleased to announce the grant recipients of the 2022 Women in Ministry Support Scheme (WIMSS). ADM has awarded 16 women across Australia grants of up to $2,000 each to support their ongoing ministries.

Marlies Hartkamp came to faith in Jesus as a child and, like many, was challenged to own her faith for herself at university, in her home country of the Netherlands. Now she’s a 2022 ADM Fellow, working on a PhD in disability theology and hoping to inspire the Church to greater inclusivity.

The 2022 Annual General Meeting was held on 3 November 2022. It was a great evening reporting on the work of ADM to our members and thanking God for His work through our organisation.

ADM is delighted to introduce our 7th cohort of Fellows, with five women appointed to complete major projects that engage our sceptical and hurting world with the gospel.

Aunty Sharon Minniecon is an Ugar (Stephen Island) woman. Sharon was born in Ayr in North Queensland as one of 13 children, and is a fifth-generation Christian. Now her three children are the sixth generation of Christians in her family.

On Friday 4 November, Rev. Narelle Jarrett went to be with Jesus. Narelle was the Principal of Mary Andrews College (Deaconess House as it used to be known) from 1985-2007 and Archdeacon for Women’s Ministry in the Sydney Anglican Diocese from 2002-2012.

Naomi de Vries is quick to acknowledge that her family doesn’t look like the ‘typical’ ministry family in Sydney Anglican circles. But funding from ADM has made it possible for her to pursue new ministry opportunities.
