Anglican Deaconess Ministries is delighted to announce our 2026 Fellows cohort. With ADM’s support, these five women will bring together their areas of expertise and their faith to complete major projects that engage our sceptical and hurting world with the gospel.  

From resources to support end-of-life care in a way that upholds human dignity to exploring new ways to teach New Testament Greek, the 2026 Fellows’ projects cover a broad range of topics.

The Church suffers when women’s stories, perspectives and insights are missed. But sadly, women’s stories are often hidden from history, and historically women haven’t been given the same opportunities to study theology in depth. Historian, theologian, 2023 ADM Fellow and new Dean of Academic Development at Mary Andrews College, Rachel Ciano, is trying to do something about that, with her passions for history, theology and teaching entwined.

Bringing forth life

Birth has always been a big part of Jodie McIver’s life. When she was a child, she was with her parents in the birthing suite as her mother gave birth to her brother Tim, and once again a few years later for the birth of her sister Tarn. While many children may be horrified and scared by the process of birth, for young Jodie, watching her siblings being born was a positive and encouraging experience that sparked a lifelong interest in pregnancy, birth and babies - and ultimately inspired her new book, written with the support of an ADM Fellowship.

Chaplaincy in Hard Places

Rev. Suzanne Gorham, Katie Tunks Leach and Rev. Kerrie Newmarch shared their stories of chaplaincy in hard places at ADM's Engage Dinner in February 2020. Rev. Gorham is Senior Chaplain to the Specialist Units in the New South Wales Police Force. Tunks Leach is an Ambulance Chaplain and Rev. Newmarch is a Chaplain at Bankstown Hospital and was previously a Chaplain for the Professional Standards Unit (Safe Ministry) for the Sydney Anglican Diocese.

Living the Gospel across cultures

Amanda Masonis an Evangelist and Community Chaplain with the Sydney Anglican Department of Evangelism and New Churches. During her Fellowship at ADM this year, she’s creating accessible resources to equip Australian churches in discipling Buddhist-background believers and mobilise them to reach their families and social networks.
