SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES
The ADM Scholarships and Bursaries Program is designed to:
- provide financial support in the form of Scholarships and Bursaries to female theological students in need;
- support women leaders and Bible teachers in the evangelical church nationally and internationally by fostering academic excellence;
- nurture a cohort of evangelical women scholars and academics able to serve the church and
the cause of Christ in Australia and overseas.
This Program is administered by The ADM Scholarships Committee, a sub-committee of the Board. Grant rounds for Scholarships and Bursaries open one month before the closing date of applications. ACADEMIC AWARDS
The Maude Ashe Scholarship

Maude Ashe raised funds for the purchase of a hospice to care for under-privileged dying people at Eversleigh. The hospice was named Home of Peace and later, Hope Healthcare. Miss Ashe was also the deaconess superintendent from 1901-1913. This award honours her commitment to the training of women for Christian ministry. It is awarded to a female student to support the cost of accommodation for the final year of a Bachelor of Divinity (BD) at Moore Theological College. The award is designed to encourage female students to take their theological studies to a more senior level for church leadership or postgraduate research. The value of the scholarship helps cover the cost of residency fees at the College.

| Criteria |
Applications must be made on the prescribed form. The award is made on academic merit and financial need and the capacity of the student to either continue with higher level academic studies or make a contribution in the area of Christian leadership. It is open to communicant Anglicans and women from other denominations studying at Moore College. Applicants may be Australian or overseas students. A written report must be submitted to the Scholarships Committee within 30 days of the conclusion of the award.

The Anna Pallister Scholarship

The Anna Pallister Scholarship aims to support the academic research of a female candidate completing a Masters by research or a Doctorate, in theology, biblical languages, ancient history related to the Bible, Christian ethics, church history, ministry, or the intersection of Christianity with culture and society. Preference will be given to postgraduate students engages in theological study. This award is made once every calendar year and is tenable for one year commencing at the beginning of Semester 1 or 2. It may cover travel and living expenses, fees for approved courses, conference costs, research assistance or other justifiable expenses.

Applications must be made on the prescribed form. Applicants must be communicant Anglicans who are Australian citizens, completing their degrees at an Australian University, an institution affiliated with the Australian College of Theology or a higher education institution approved by the Scholarships Committee. The scholarship is designed to promote the academic development of young female Christian scholars and so the successful applicant will need to demonstrate a capacity to make an on-going contribution to Christian scholarship and learning. It may be suspended if the candidate suspends her enrolment for family or medical reasons. A written report must be submitted to the Scholarships Committee within 30 days of the conclusion of the award. A candidate may apply for the award more than once.

The Margaret Rodgers Scholarship

The Margaret Rodgers Scholarship aims to support the study program of a woman completing a Masters by coursework in theology, biblical languages, ancient history related to the Bible, Christian ethics, church history, ministry or the intersection of Christianity with culture and society. Preference will be given to postgraduate students engaged in theological study. This award is made once every calendar year and is tenable for one year commencing at the beginning of Semester 1 or 2. It may cover travel and living expenses, fees for approved courses, conference costs, expenses for study-related child care, research assistance or other justifiable expenses. Students must be enrolled in their course and have successfully completed two subjects or at least one semester of study.

A Travel Scholarship
This award is designed to assist female postgraduate students reading degrees at the level of a Masters or Doctorate in the area of theology, biblical languages and ancient history related to the Bible, Christian ethics, church history or ministry. The scholarship assists with the costs of travel to conferences or where students must travel for research purposes. The award may be used for local or overseas travel costs, accommodation or to support conference registration fees.

Applicants must be communicant Anglicans who are Australian citizens and must be completing their degrees at an institution affiliated with the Australian College of Theology or an Australian university or other higher education institution approved by the Scholarships Committee. More than one scholarship may be awarded if there are sufficient funds. Preference will be given to applicants completing their degrees at institutions within the Sydney Diocese. The scholarship is designed to promote the academic development of young female Christian scholars and so the successful applicant will need to demonstrate a capacity to make an on-going contribution to Christian scholarship and learning. A written report must be submitted to the Scholarships Committee within 30 days of the conference or event for which the award was made.

The Mary Andrews Prize

| Criteria |
Open to students enrolled in the Mary Andrews College Diploma or Advanced Diploma who are working towards completion of an award (not open to audit students). The prize will be determined by the Academic Board of Mary Andrews College at the conclusion of an academic year and the name recommended to the Scholarships Committee. The award will be made annually and presented at the graduation ceremony of Mary Andrews College.

TRAINING AND EDUCATION BURSARIES
The Archdall Preaching Bursary

This award supports a meritorious candidate undertaking further training in preaching with Evangelism Ministries in the Sydney Diocese. It recognises the need to train women in preaching and publicly teaching the Bible, implementing the vision of the Archdalls’ and others in the COEDISL who wanted to develop women’s ministry. The award covers part of the cost of employing a woman for twelve months who will be trained as an evangelist and has been determined in conjunction with EM.

Suitable candidates must be promoted by Evangelism Ministries and assessed by the Scholarships Committee. Preference will be given to communicant Anglican women with a Diploma or degree (or working towards one) awarded by an institution affiliated with the Australian College of Theology or other theological college approved by the Scholarships Committee. Narelle Jarrett Bursaries

Applications must be made on the prescribed form. Bursaries are awarded by a competitive application process and are open to both new and current students of Mary Andrews College. The Bursary will cover the full cost of enrollment in one subject for a Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Ministry or Theology at Mary Andrews College.

The Rev. Maureen Cripps Ministry Development Award
Desirous to serve others, Maureen Cripps graduated from Deaconess House in 1965 and was one of the first women in Sydney to be ordained as a deacon by the Archbishop in 1989. Throughout her life, Rev. Cripps served in seven parishes in Sydney and country NSW and as Assistant Principal at Deaconess House, Coordinator of Women's Ministry, President of the Diaconal Fellowship and Chaplain to Mother's Union.
This award is for those whose aim is to serve in ministry by providing funds for the professional development of women who are in ordained ministry or for lay women engaged in full-time, part-time or a recognised voluntary ministry in the Sydney Diocese, including clergy wives. Preference will be given to those who are in current paid ministry employment and clergy wives. Two awards are available each year. The funds can be used for attendance at a conference, course, research project, overseas ministry endeavour or other professional development activity.

Arrow Leadership Scholarship

ADM provides a scholarship for a Sydney Anglican woman to attend the Arrow Leadership program for a period of two years; commencing 2012. Applicants must apply and be accepted by the Arrow program to become eligible to apply for the ADM Arrow Leadership Scholarship. The Scholarship is valued at $8,800.
